Fried Pickles: The New "Super Cool" Snack!

Fried pickles have been making quite the stir this past year popping up in various places in Manchester. It sounds like a strange way to think of a pickle, but is still strangely delicious. Toppings vary from your basic ranch dressing to more surprising dips such as cheese sauce.
Strange Brew serves up their pickles with a side of Ranch dressing. Ignite has a mouth-watering Jamaican Ranch that accompanies their fried pickles, and Cactus Jacks does it with their super scrumptious Chipotle Ranch. Fall Foliage Train Excursions

Starting this weekend there are several options for you to enjoy the fall foliage in NH from the comfort of a train. From Lincoln to Meredith there are 5 options to choose from. Trust me, this is a great way to see the splendor of NH's changing leaves. One of my favorite train excursions runs out of North Conway NH. It is a 5 hour tour through Crawford Notch. You will see some of the most magnificient views on this trip. Viewing the fall foliage...Now That's the Red Oak Life!

Glendi Festival at St George Greek Orthodox Church

This weekend: Sept 17-19 is the time we have all been waiting for! Yes, it's Glendi!
This festival of all things Greek is a must do event in Manchester.
Enjoy craft tables, Greek dancing, amusement rides and of course Greek foods and pastries.
This year there will even be a Greek Taverna so that you can sample Greek wines and beers.
All in all this is a fun festival for the whole family.

Biking in NH

New Hampshire is filled with many wonderful spots for a bike ride. A series of bike trails exist in many parts of the state. The Red Oak Reporter had the opportunity to enjoy the Nashua River Rail Trail on a recent Sat afternoon. This level trail is built on the former action rail tracks. It offers an easy 12 mile ride (one way) from south Nashua to Acton Mass. Along the way you will find beautiful forests, lush farm lands and scenic wet land vistas. A highlight is the ice cream stand at the midpoint of the ride. Check it out! Now That's the Red Oak Life!

Toy Run for the Salvation Army!

Yesterday was a special day! The Annual Toy Ride for the Salvation Army was held. Over 1000 Motorcycle riders traveled from Concord to The Union Leader building in Manchester to deliver toys to the Salvation Army. These toys will be distributed to needy children this year at Christmas!

The riders were all so generous ! Santa lead the way with the NH State Police and everyone enjoyed a picnic that was prepared by the Salvation Army staff. Some riders donated money and the Corps officers, Captains Shawn and Kim Belanger were there to accept.

Red Oak owners, Ron and Gerry Dupont, were on hand to serve lunch and to thank each rider.

If you would like to donate a new toy to the Salvation Army for a needy child you can drop off your donation to the Salvation Army at 141 Cedar St in Manchester or bring it to any Red Oak Office and we will make sure that it gets to the Salvation Army.

Lorraine has lived here at our Sunset Ridge Community since September of 2009. Since the beginning of her lease Lorraine has been willing to help in any way possible to make our community brighter. Lorraine has a background in activities coordinating at a previous community in Texas, with her skills and knowledge she offered to start an activities committee here at Sunset Ridge.

Lorraine has gone above and beyond to make our residents feel at home, all while working two jobs. Lorraine and her Co-Coordinator Carol, have put on some amazing events, the latest being our community block party. Our residents are extremely happy with her involvement with the community that she was presented with a trophy. During our prize giveaway a little girl won the last trophy for a balloon game. She then walked over to the D.J and requested to make an announcement and give her trophy to Lorraine instead, because she thought she deserved it. In her short speech she said it was “the best block party in her life and she couldn’t wait to do it again to next year”.

Lorraine brings the true meaning to “Living the Red Oak Life”, a big thanks to Lorraine Wade.

US Senate Candidate Kelly Ayotte Visits Red Oak Apartments

Kelly Ayotte, candidate for US Senate, visited Red Oak today. She had the opportunity to meet the Red Oak team and speak about her vision for the future of America and New Hampshire. Her passion for cutting government spending, creating new jobs and strengthening the economy really hit home with our staff. Kelly is a smart, hard-working fiscal conservative who will go to Washington and work hard for us. Please consider Kelly Ayotte when you vote this Sept in the Republican primary for US Senate.
